Can Anyone Get a Video Game Tester Job ?
The bunt answer to this question is no. Not
everyone can become a game tester.
If they could, the competition would be so high
the chances of getting paid to test games would be so low it wouldn’t be worth your while.
However most people, who would want to
become a video game tester, can.
The basic requirements is that you’re over the
age of fifteen, love video games and have a good knowledge of games such as graphics, faults and game play. All of which any good gamer would
notice subconsciously.
There are some changes that will need to be made
to your lifestyle though. Instead of getting up early to beat the traffic to work, or going to an after-school job, you can play video
games.
Most game testers have been playing games since
they were around 9 or 10 which is pretty much when any other gamer starts.
Once you have a grasp on what makes a game good
and what makes a game bad then you can become a video game tester and get paid to test games.
Most video game testers test games at home and
are completely self-employed which has a ton of benefits and only a few downsides.
You’re your own boss, decide your hours, can
relax when you want and don’t have to answer to anyone but yourself.
The downsides include keeping records of your
income and having to drag yourself out of bed to play video games!
The final aspect of a person which is essential
for a video game tester is motivation.
When you’re starting off trying to get a
game testing job or in-between projects, you will need to keep your moral up in order to keep looking
for new projects.
That said, once you have gotten a few game
testing jobs you will find that the companies are keeping your details and contacting you to test games for them instead to you having to
search for game testing jobs.
The reality of it is that if you have what it
takes you can do it.
